Hello everyone and welcome to the May edition of Purple Post.
Another month has disappeared very quickly, and we, the Parenta People, are working collectively to get through these difficult times. Lockdown measures are easing; and at last we can start to get out and about a little more, although not into settings yet, of course – that will come much later.
Company Update
These are tough times - tougher than any of us could have imagined. As I explained in the company update last Friday, despite all our best efforts, we are just not hitting the sales we need to sustain the business and I am truly sorry that we have had to make some incredibly difficult decisions. Myself and the SMT are still working hard to support everyone the best we can and keep the business running.
Thank you all so much for your continued patience, tenacity … and above all, team work.
We hope you have found the posts that have been uploaded on to the staff Facebook page during Mental Health Awareness week useful and uplifting. They include some wonderful videos and positive messages for us all. Please do take a look if you haven’t done so already.
Valuable resources at our fingertips
As our customers start to think about reopening their settings; and our learners returning back to work, everyone will need to adjust to the ‘new normal’ over the next few weeks. This means they all need us more than ever to communicate with them regularly, whether it’s via direct contact, a webinar, the Parenta magazine or the advice regularly updated on the parenta.com blog.
A reminder that all Parenta resources to help our learners and settings can be found right here on our staff intranet - all in one place. We’ve recently added new documents to help our learners with their progress, including
functional skills mock exams support; and also added new policies, and
Parenta branded documents,
Software News
The development team has been working hard on the Footsteps 2 standalone version to get it off-the-ground and it has now been released! Customers no longer need to wait for us to configure their system – they ‘self-on board’ and can start using the software to track the children’s EYFS journey immediately!
Abacus webinars – we continue to receive great feedback from our customers!
The customer service team has received more great comments, following the series of software webinars held over the past couple of months. Here is the latest feedback:
Footsteps 2 (Jamie Atkins)
"Great to have the files as extra resource support that I can share with my staff team. The webinar was good, I learnt more about some of the areas we are not using effectively enough such as Next Steps and the reports. Thank you."
"Excellent as always"
Making the most out of Abacus (Rosie Presland)
"Really good - think these should be continued as although we would love to come down to the sessions you usually run it just isn't possible for us."
"Thank you, great service."
Testimonials
Please don’t underestimate the importance of testimonials – especially during these difficult times. Please ensure that after every positive interaction you have with a customer you ask them if they would be willing to send in a short testimonial and then follow up with the link:https://www.parenta.com/testimonial/
Here are a few recent ones:
Thank you Amie. Very helpful and patient with me again and I appreciate the help file to prompt me when working on this later this evening. Slowly getting to grips with this, with your help.
Today I received amazing support from Rosie Presland. I had a lot of difficult issues regarding COVID and how it has affected the setting and the invoices, she was so understanding and helpful. Thanks to her knowledge and patience we got there in the end!!!!! Thank you again Rosie from Jo at Winton House Day Nursery.
Always satisfied with the help we receive from Parenta. Thanks very much Charlotte.
Pippa was very supportive and enabled me to complete my course with plenty of time. She was always on the other end of the phone and made sure I felt comfortable and completed the course to the best of my ability.
Faith Macdonald, Meynell Kindergarten - learner
I wanted you to know that Jasna has been amazing for these past few months I had her as an assessor. She has helped me and motivated me so much and has really helped with my progress. In only a few months Jasna has worked so hard to help me complete the course and I am ever so grateful. I would definitely recommend Parenta to others!
Sandra Mihai - learner
Jackie was amazing. She has excellent interpersonal skills which has inspired our learners to achieve over the years to gain qualifications from level 2 to level 3. She has patience and good understanding of the learners’ needs and abilities. She encourages and motivate them to continue when they are at their lowest. Jackie is a great asset to your organisation, she is very professional, and caring; she treats all my staff equally regardless of their status. Jackie is a gem.

“The New Furlough Guidelines": FREE webinar with industry expert advice and Q&A
The Government has advised us on what furlough will look like for the next five months. The landscape will change… and for many nursery managers and owners, this could mean they will need to consider restructuring. We are excited that early years HR and furlough expert Jacqui Mann is joining us again this month for an interactive Q&A session on Wednesday 3rd June at 9.30am to answer questions on the confusing topic of furlough.
