It’s clear that everyone enjoyed the Parenta Inspiration Conference and Gala on 13th May – the general buzz and feedback
post-conference has been incredible! Thank you to all who have given ‘official’ feedback via the survey – this will help us shape
our next conference.
Whilst we’re awaiting the official photos from the conference to come through, we thought we would share the final ‘Parenta People Testimonials’ video with you all!
Before we share this however, there are a few important updates.
Last Friday marked our very first virtual cocktail happy hour and what fun it was – everyone’s creativity and Remarkable spirit was out in full force.
Congratulations to Kylie Knight for winning Parenta People Happy Hour with ‘Parentapolitan’! Your £20 Amazon gift voucher is on
its way to you.
Here are some concoctions that gave ‘Parentapolitan’ a run for its money…
By now, you will have received your first “Remarkable: changing children’s lives” activity for 2022 – Ju-bear-lee.
We can’t wait to see what our Parenta bears get up to during the month of June – don’t forget to send your best pictures of your adventures to marketing@parenta.com.
Thank you to Elizabeth Macfad for already sharing this picture (right) of Alexander with Parenta bear in hand all ready to go to his nursery’s Jubilee celebrations! Look at that smile!
The positive endorsements we receive from existing customers are not only a great way for giving praise to an individual or team but are a powerful marketing tool to attract new customers!
In the past, we’ve requested testimonials to be posted on our website. Thanks to our Remarkable Parenta People, we now have a plethora of glowing reviews on parenta.com.
Now though, we must shift our focus to Google.
We know that our current Google review rating does not reflect all our hard work and effort, so we are going to change that.
Can we ask all customer facing teams to request for a Google review when you have a positive interaction with a customer? If they are willing to send in a short testimonial then, please click on the Google review button above to retrieve the NEW LINK.
We understand that not everyone will have a Google account, if that is the case then can we request a review on our Facebook page instead? Please click the Facebook review button above to retrieve the link.
By all of us doing this, we can dramatically change our public ratings which will help attract even more customers!
If there is anything the Marketing team can do to support you on this, please reach out to marketing@parenta.com.
Kudos winner for May is Lisa Kempster who was also crowned (caped!) our Parenta Superhero! Huge congratulations, Lisa!
Lisa says: “It was so lovely to receive the award and to also read all of the lovely comments, thank you so much to everyone in Parenta who nominated me.”
Don’t forget you can start voting for our June employee of the month already. Keep that Kudos coming and please give recognition for all the hard work our colleagues are doing.

Update from the Functional Skills team
The new Functional Skills maths tutor will start on 6th June.
The team is currently in the process of arranging evening sessions for maths - this will be for our learners that need to complete maths by July.
We have been inviting learners to an intense reading and writing session to help them achieve their FS English.
We have a new exam booking spreadsheet that will be shared weekly with RTMs. This will allow tutors to see what learners are booked for exams.
I’ve always believed cervical screening is vital in the world’s fight against cancer, after having my daughter last year, this is even more important to me as not only do I want to stay healthy to see her grow up, I also want her to stay healthy too. I wanted to give you a little bit of information on what cervical screening is and why it is so important.
20th June marks the start of cervical screening awareness week. An HPV vaccination is available to everyone from year 8 in secondary school until their 25th birthday. This includes males as although they are not able to get cervical cancer, the HPV vaccine has been proven to help prevent other cancerous conditions.
99.8% of cervical cancer cases are preventable in the UK with the use of cervical screening.
What Is Cervical Screening?
Cervical screening or “Smear Test” as it’s more commonly known is a simple test which will check the health of a person’s cervix. It is not a test for cancer, but does show when abnormal cells are present, which could help prevent cervical cancer.
When Should I Get a Smear Test?
Everyone with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64 should receive a letter inviting you to a cervical screening. If you are between this age range and you have not had a letter, please speak to your GP surgery who will be able to book you in a for a screening.
In England, people aged between 25 and 49 will be invited to a screening every 3 years and people aged between 50 and 64 will be invited every 5 years. If you are 65 or older, you will only be invited to a screening if 1 of your previous 3 tests showed abnormal cells present. In Scotland, you will be invited for a screening every 5 years and depending on the results, you could be invited more often.
Additional Support
A smear test is a very intimate procedure and it’s understandable that many people will feel nervous about getting one, but it’s important to know that nurses and doctors who perform this procedure have done this many times before and there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
If you do feel like you need some additional support, you can find more information and additional resources at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-screening/
Alternatively, you can reach out to the People Team. We are all female and have all been through a screening so we will be more than happy to talk through any worries or concerns you might have.
National Carers Week
National Carers Week is from 6th to 12th June 2022 and is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring. The UK currently has 6.5 million carers. These carers are unpaid and incorporate caring into their everyday life.
Caring can be hugely rewarding but can also have an impact on all aspects of life. Carers often feel lonely or isolated as sometimes people do not appreciate how tough it is.
My husband was born with Spina Bifida but up until about four years ago, this did not cause him any major issues, in fact he was a Facilities Manager of four schools, often undertaking manual tasks, was renovating our house and a keen camper. Then the back pain increased and he was eventually admitted to hospital where the severity of his condition was discovered and the realisation that he will need to have major surgery with huge risks and his lifelong career was over.
From that point, I have found myself caring for my husband, doing everyday tasks for him that we would never have thought he could not do for himself, simple tasks such as putting his socks on or helping him out of the bath.
There are many people in the same position as me, many people who deal with a lot more than me, but when you are placed in this situation, you are prepared to do whatever you can to support the person you love and make their life easier.
Sometimes a carer wants to be cared for and supported which is why it is so important to raise awareness and offer support.
Parenta is a company that appreciates its staff and looks after their well-being, so it may be possible to set up a monthly support group for carers so that we can come together and chat through what we are going through.
Congratulations to Rosie Burns on the safe arrival of baby Jacob on 13th May 2022, weighing 8lbs 5oz!
