PURPLE POST March 2021

A warm welcome to the March edition of Purple Post

We hope everyone is enjoying the start of coming out of lockdown and of course the approaching feast of Easter eggs.

The continuing challenges of Covid in early years webinar

On the 25th March, Parenta hosted a webinar about the challenges the early years industry have faced throughout the pandemic and are still trying to overcome. The webinar was packed with advice about health, children with SEND, vaccinations for staff and much more! It was another great success and we are already looking forward to our next webinar on 22nd April, with a SEND focus.

Benefits of walking from the People Team
In today’s world, there are so many different ways to exercise like Yoga, HIIT Training, Boxing, along with many more. However, walking is often not included on this list as it is considered the most underrated form of exercise. Hippocrates, a Greek Physician, once said that walking is ‘man’s best medicine’ and this couldn’t be more true, with the impact that it has on improving both our physical and mental health. In light of this, we have found an article that reminds us of the benefits of walking. Click here to read.
Please don’t forget to use the staff intranet – it’s packed with resources to help us, our learners and our settings
A reminder that all Parenta resources to help ourselves, our learners and settings can be found here on our intranet, all in one handy place. We publish additional industry expert advice, news articles and crafts in our free magazine and on our blog.

Here are this month’s How to Guides and new additions to the staff intranet:

Spotlight on… Katie Maclean
This month, we caught up with Katie who was the Kudos winner for February!

"I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ for my kudos received!!! It’s great to see that our hard work is acknowledged within Parenta and I think it’s a great motivator.

I love my role as a tutor assessor as I get to meet new learners all the time and see how they grow and develop into childcare practitioners, their achievements are our achievements.

The team I work in is FANTASTIC, the support everyone gives each other is just brilliant. From sharing resources, helping each other where needed with workloads to just having a natter and laughing together."

Entice new customers with the power of testimonials!

We have received some amazing testimonials. The positive endorsements that we receive from our existing customers are not only a great way for giving praise to the individuals or teams concerned, but are used as a valuable marketing tool to attract new customers!

Please ensure that after every positive interaction you have with a customer you ask them if they would be willing to send in a short testimonial and then follow up with the usual link https://www.parenta.com/testimonial/
I am writing today to express my thanks to Jeanette Arnold.

She has been a fantastic support to our apprentice Shani Brookman and has given Shani more support in the last few months then any of the many previous assessors before her.

Jeanette is a pleasure to work in partnership with and is always transparent and honest. She gives praise and achievable targets that really filled Shani with the self belief that she could complete and become an amazing practitioner.
I am not confident Shani would be in the same position now if it wasn’t for Jeanette's commitment and encouragement all the way.

It seems very clear to me and I’m sure you would wholeheartedly agree Jeanette is a complete asset to your team and every apprentice she works with.

The only shame is that she doesn’t cover my area often or I would absolutely be requesting her for ALL our learners.

Did you know?
Autism Awareness Day is tomorrow.

Around 700,000 people have been diagnosed with Autism disorders, with 1 in 100 children in the UK diagnosed too.

On this day many different organisations all around the world hold events and fundraise to create awareness. 'Light it up blue' was one of these organisations lighting iconic buildings in the colour. This included the Empire State Building in America, Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro and the Great Budda in Japan.

Fundraising events have been been a bit different recently but the National Autistic Society have come up with some great activities to do from home. Click here to get involved.
